From an entry of 54, we saw the cream of Bolognese at the NEC for Crufts 2019. Fabulous British and overseas dogs showed their socks off doing their owners handlers and breeders proud!
ITA CH RADAMANTINO DANTE owned by Miss ML Friggi and handled by Salvo Foti took the BD & BOB place and DONOCIELO SERAPHINA owned and bred by Carol & Dennis Mulligan and handled by Becky Mulligan the BB award. Carol Mulligan is a member of our club and so was the RBB owner and breeder of ENJANICKA TOSCANA MIO CARO Jane Towers. Nice to see top placing for British owners and breeders in the bitch classes.
Club members Hilary & Peter McArdle/Deana Mee were awarded BP with an imported male called BLONDE CHINO GEMINIUM. One of our members Shirley Hewitson was delighted with her BV award with INT CH PREDATINO BENGI OF MOORHEY originally from Hungary, almost 9-years old and looking amazing. Bengi is the sire to BB DONOCIELO SERAPHINA making for a right family affair at this year’s Crufts. RBD was CH ARES DI CHIESANOVA from Italy owned by Annalisa Agostini and bred by Carla Perondi. Ares is the proud father of four 15-month Bolognese also shown at this year’s Crufts (4 from a litter of 6) with their mother Tumbril Tennessee Honey with Enkanicka second in the Open Bitch. Mother, father and 4 puppies reuniting at this years Crufts.
Unfortunately we did have a long wait to be judged, not starting till around 4 and not finishing till after 6. Our judge MR H OGDEN definitely appreciated the quality of the dogs being shown on the day and he actually set off a round of applause for the Open Dog class. Our judge, as you would expect from a Crufts judge, was professional and thorough. The Open Dog class of 11 was a thrill for all to see. The dogs and the handlers were just lovely to watch. There was some excellent handling, well turned out dogs and all exhibitors should be proud of their achievements. The judge seemed to enjoy his appointment and was happy to be photographed with a variety of dogs including our group shot and to stay behind afterwards for a piece of cake!
We had to start the food after the dog judging as it was getting too late to wait. We had homemade cake from Hilary McArdle, Welsh Cakes from Peter & Glenys and Scottish Shortbread brought down from Scotland by Linda Harley. We had homemade pasties, lovely cheese and biscuits, nibbles, dips & chocolates. Thanks to everybody who brought food. It was a bit hectic, but it always is, at least this time we had a table to spread the food out.
Jessica Van Driel visited from Holland, Tina SCHWARZ from Germany with 2 Bolognese, Shirley Roberts from France with her dog Merlin, as well as Claire Tibbe from Belgium showing 3 dogs. Andrea Nagyné Zemba and Mr. N. Istvan visited from Hungary with Rolex. LAFFORD MILKY BAR KID ‘Milky’ bred & Co-owned by club member Carol Lees visited from Holland. Milky lives with his Co-owner Kirsty Leest who handled him on the day to a third place in the OPEN DOG class, which was an achievement in such an outstandingly strong class.
It was a long but enjoyable day for Bolognese enthusiasts and a rare chance to see some overseas dogs of amazing quality. We managed to get a group photo opportunity, in the ring, after the judging with only a few people missing. Thanks goes to Dennis Mulligan for letting us share his amazing group shot.
