Lovely Bright Day for Bolognese MEET UP

The MEET UP at Wharf Side Tea Rooms on Sunday was a success, 10 Bolognese came along of all ages, sizes and with a great variety of coat lengths and types. We had 2 waggy happy 6-month old puppies, who were mega pleased to meet everybody. There were a few older girls as well, but they were not lacking in energy or personality. Vera brought her 2 Parson Jack Russell and her Dandie Dinmont Terriers. Caroline Moore brought along Millie and Macy the 2 Bolognese girls that she kindly took on a few months ago as their owner had sadly passed away. Millie and Macy are really happy and clearly have fallen on their feet in their new home and it is so good that they stayed together as they are mother and daughter.

The cafe was really lovely, set in the side of the quarry with some exposed rock. The cafe mixed character with contemporary style, with lovely decor and twinkly lights. There were lots of dogs around, as the cafe is particularly known for being ‘dog friendly’. They even have a bin of towels outside, so people can dry their dogs of before coming in. We were a bit worried about having so many dogs, but in actual fact they were all so good, settling well around the table, you wouldn’t of even known they were there.

After lunch, we asked the cafe owner to judge a few fun events and she was over the moon. We definitely got her on side and she said we are welcome to come back whenever we like. Prizes went to waggiest tail, handsomest dog and prettiest bitch and another passer by (who had nice hair), judged the ‘BEST HAIR DO’. We had a ‘LUCKY DIP’ and sold some merchandise, raising £33.50 for the Bolognese Dog Club UK funds.

To round up the MEET UP, we all went for a walk. Luckily the weather was really good, sunny, not windy and not that cold. It was great to see a group of Bolognese running free and meeting other dogs along the way. People had an opportunity to talk to others about their dog’s traits, health, personalities and any issues that concerned them. The area is lovely for dog walkers, that is for sure, highly recommended.

We are looking into having a MEET UP soon in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace in Richmond upon Thames, Greater London as its lovely for a walk, easy to park and there are gardens and a cafe. More to follow on that soon. Happy days.
