Lots of Fun at Reigate MEET UP
We met on the 2nd of June at The Crown in Leigh near Reigate which is a lovely spot and the weather was dry and bright. John Twaites had made the booking and the landlady set us out a lovely long table in the garden with umbrellas. She was also really efficient at running separate tabs. The food was great and the dogs and people all got on well. Everybody had met at the Surrey MEET UP last year and several of the dogs where bred by Deana who doesn’t live far away. Deana brought her show dog Otto. After the meal we had a tombola/raffle and everybody chose a prize. The pub was busy, but the garden was big and we had our own spot. The dogs didn’t cause any trouble at all.
The pub is opposite a church and a green area with a lovely big tree offering shade, so we all congregated over there for more fun. There was also a church BBQ going on and some of the people from there (who had dogs with them), popped over to see what was going on. We took a group picture and asked one of the people from the BBQ to judge a few fun classes. Our judge chose Fizz as Prettiest Girl, Dino as Most Handsome Boy and Mini as Best Veteran and prizes were gratefully received.
We then set up agility equipment brought by John and by Vikki, so we could set up 2 runs of apparatus. The dogs had a go at the agility and they did really well, it was great fun. After a while, the wind started blowing the equipment over, so we had to abandon operations, but time was getting on by then anyway.
Vikki & Greg came with their 2 boys Enzo & Dino who has just come back from The Lake District. Paul Irvine, his wife Neelu and son Khush brought their girls Giana & Mini. Lovely to see Khush growing into such a lovely young man who clearly loves the dogs as much as his dad (and mum) do. John Twaites, Karen, Karina & Bella the Bolognese make up the Twaites Family and mum & dad fulfilled the photography roll for the day (greatly appreciated).
Diana & Justin brought their young Bolognese Roger who had a lovely nature, was well behaved and looked as if he had just come back from the groomers! Jennie Hegarty & Geoff brought their 2 Bolognese Fizz and Fabio. Fabio looked really well considering he has been rather poorly, but is recovering well (thank goodness). I brought Harry & his mum Lily who is now 13, but amazingly she jumped some of the agility jumps and did the slalom really well (encouraged by a treat) – Harry just knocked the jumps down!
