My Day Out at WINDSOR DOG SHOW 2024

Windsor Dog Show 30th June 2024
by Melanie Thomas

Windsor was perfect weather for a dog show and we were able to use the outside part of the rings. It was benched, so no stress finding somewhere to settle and lots of spare room. I took Lily with me, I had to pay £10 for her, but they told me the money goes to Battersea Dogs Home, so that a good thing. The ring wasn’t very smooth in places, so some of the dogs were skipping a bit over the stubbly grass. I was met by Bette who was returning from the Toy & Utility Brace Stakes where she had come 2nd with Bijou and Alba. Bette won £15 in prize money and had a big smile on her face.

By lunchtime the Bolognese started to be judged. Our judge, Mr K Berry, had judged us at a club show previously and he took a good look at the dogs.

I attended Windsor as its a show that I can travel to reasonably easily. Jenny Hegarty was a supporter from outside the ring. Deana Mee was there as she tends to do the same shows as me as we both live in the South East. Hilary & Peter Mcardell were also at Windsor and their Phendelle Eida Avril May took Reserve Best Bitch behind Donocielo Seraphina (Dennis & Carol Mulligan) from the Veteran Class. Hardcore exhibitors Diane & Mark Whateley and Carol & Dennis Mulligan were camping in the Home Park and Bette Hopkins travelled all the way from Norfolk which she said was a very early start!

Arkadian Alfredo Ferrari (Dino) took the Best Puppy, seaming confident and enjoying being in the ring. Diane & Mark Whateley also took the Reserve Best Dog with Dino’s sire Lyckalotte Enzo Ferrari at Arkadian. Best Dog and Best of Breed was the unstoppable Donocielo Michelangelo bred & owned by Dennis and Carol Mulligan and showed by Carol.

I only attend a handful of dog shows now and Windsor is one of my favourites, this year it didn’t let its self down (exactly what it says on the tin). Nice to meet people and dogs and not get soaking wet or boiling hot!
